Attorney supervision — how the line is drawn
PF Consulting Firm is not a law firm. On this track we do not advise anyone, do not appear anywhere, and do not exercise legal judgment. The retaining attorney defines the criteria and standards for the assignment, reviews the work product before it is used, and remains responsible for every filing.
What we do
Apply the attorney's criteria to the record. Organize, abstract, summarize, index, format, and assemble. Flag anything ambiguous back to counsel in writing.
What we do not do
Decide privilege, relevance standards, remedies, claims, defenses, or strategy. Advise the attorney's client. Sign, file, or serve on the firm's behalf unless separately and expressly engaged for a permitted service.
Defined project scopes
Overflow assignments
A defined block of support when volume spikes — new matter intake, a large production landing at once, or a paralegal out on leave.
Deadline support
Work sequenced backwards from your filing or hearing date, with interim checkpoints so you are never waiting until the deadline to see progress.
Legal research support
Attorney-directed research support: authority gathering, citation pulls, and organized research packets for counsel to evaluate. Conclusions and analysis remain yours.
Discovery organization
Production intake, deduplication, issue coding to your criteria, privilege-log support, and production indexes.
Record review and abstraction
Medical, employment, financial, and corporate record review with date-ordered abstracts and page-level source citations.
Drafting and formatting support
Attorney-directed drafting support and formatting of pleadings, motions, and memoranda to local formatting requirements, with tables of contents and authorities.
Exhibit and trial preparation
Exhibit sets, exhibit lists, witness binders, and hearing binders sequenced the way you intend to use them.
Appellate formatting
Appendix assembly, record references, and brief formatting support to the requirements you confirm for the reviewing court.
Case-file organization
Inherited or disorganized files rebuilt into a pleading index, correspondence index, key-document set, and a deadline list for your confirmation.
Communication expectations
- One assigned point of contact per matter
- Written scope confirmation before work begins
- Status updates at agreed checkpoints on multi-week projects
- Written escalation any time a task appears to require a legal judgment
- Change-of-scope quoted in writing rather than absorbed silently
- Business-day response on open assignments
Secure document intake, delivery, and revisions
- Upload case documents through secure transfer — not open email attachments.
- Access control: only personnel assigned to the matter can open the file set.
- Production to the format and formatting requirements confirmed in your scope.
- Internal check against the scope and the source records before anything is delivered.
- Delivery to the retaining attorney for review and approval.
- Revisions inside the agreed scope returned within 24 to 72 hours.
- Close-out: material returned or purged on your instruction at the end of the assignment.
Recurring support
Firms with steady document volume typically move to a recurring arrangement: a standing monthly block, or an open work-order channel where each new assignment references a pre-approved rate and turnaround so there is no scope conversation every time. Recurring arrangements can be paused or adjusted between months.

Frequently asked questions
Who may retain PF Consulting Firm for this service?
Licensed attorneys, law firms, in-house and corporate legal departments, government legal offices, and other approved professional clients. We do not accept attorney-support assignments directly from an attorney's client.
How is supervision handled?
Every assignment is performed under the direction of the retaining attorney. The attorney sets the criteria, reviews the work product, and makes every decision that requires legal judgment. Professional responsibility for the matter stays with the attorney at all times.
What happens if a task requires a legal judgment?
We stop and escalate it back to you in writing. We do not decide relevance standards, privilege calls, remedies, claims, defenses, or strategy — we apply the criteria you define and flag anything outside them.
Can you work inside our case-management system?
In most cases yes, if you provide scoped access. Otherwise we work from a secure upload and return deliverables in your preferred format for your team to import.
How are conflicts handled?
We run a conflict check against the party list you provide before accepting a new matter, and we decline assignments that conflict with an active engagement.
What does a defined project scope include?
The deliverable, the record set, the format, the deadline, the number of revision rounds included, the fee, and an explicit list of what is out of scope. Anything added later is quoted as a change to scope rather than absorbed silently.
Do you take emergency deadline work?
We take compressed-deadline assignments when capacity allows, quoted separately based on record volume and the delivery date. We will tell you plainly if a deadline is not achievable rather than accept it and miss it.
Is there a minimum commitment?
No. Firms can send a single project, a recurring monthly block, or standing overflow work orders. There is no requirement to commit to volume.
