Minor Name Change — Court Process by State

Minor name changes require court approval, parental notice (or consent), and often publication. Process runs 6–12 weeks.

A minor's name can be changed by court order on petition by the parent or guardian. The non-filing parent must be served notice and given opportunity to object.
