FAQ

Home Health Agency Startup questions

What's the 3-patient minimum?

CMS Conditions of Participation 484.105 require providing care to 3 patients with at least 7 total billable skilled visits before the certification survey.

Which accreditor should I choose?

ACHC and CHAP dominate home health. Joint Commission is more common for hospital systems. All three are CMS-deemed and acceptable.

Can I bill before Medicare CCN issues?

Yes — commercial insurance and Medicaid (in most states) can be billed during the Medicare wait.
